Track Of The Week #3: Blood Red Shoes - Dont Ask

Dont you just love it when a band you thought that would die with its 2nd album comes off sounding a 100 times better than their debut? Last year it was The Horrors and now its time for Brighton's finest, Blood Red Shoes to prove that they had more to give than just 2 indie-disco hits with their second effort, Fire Like This. "Dont Ask" , the first track of the album, is along with "Light It Up" and "Count Me Out" the key tracks of Fire Like This. Enjoy!

FRESH:: The Futureheads - Heartbeat Song, Stuck Dumb

So, its been a while since we last heard from these lads. Firstly they went "off the radar" with their 2nd album, "News And Tributes", back in 2006. Then they came back from the dead with their decent, 2008 release, "This Is Not The World", with loads of fuckin' awesome singles off that album. Now its the time for their 4th, still untilted album, set for release sometime Spring, 2010. They 've already revealed 2 new tracks, "Stuck Dumb"- free download- and most recently, "Heartbeat Song"(already streaming at their MySpace page). The whole attitude is still the same, rough/post-punk that is, but with a poppier edge this time round. Enjoy!

New Sounds For Yr Old Ears:: The Young Friends

Well everyone has been going on and on about The Drums and how big they 're going to get in 2k10..Fuck that..The Drums are shit as far as surf-pop is concerned..(They also look stupid if you ask me..) The Young Friends on the other side are easily one of the bands waiting to be "huge" on the indie/blog-sphere since they sound a lot like The Drums although they 're far more better . The Young Friends are a 5-piece from Phoenix, US and they 've already released a free download debut ep called "North End/Sound End" on Holiday records. That ep must have been downloaded a lot since they stopped giving that away for free some months ago. So, enjoy The young Friends!Brang on about them in 6 months when they 'll be everyone's favourite new band..Just kiddin'..

FRESH:: Franz Ferdinand feat.Marion Cotillard - The Eyes Of Mars

Franz Ferdinand, collaborating with a hollywood star(Marion Cotillard won the Oscar for her perfomance in La Vie En Rose..) for a tv ad? Well, its true!Franz recorded "The Eyes Of Mars" with Cotillard for the new campain of Dior."The Eyes.." find Franz in a good shape (still..) since the whole female-voice/erotic mood of the track seems to work fine. Check it out, go buy Dior!(Just kidding..)

Foals New Tracks

flz rch

"We have almost finished recording in Svenska Grammofon and will be heading back to start mixing next week. It's been emotional and we're sad to be leaving behind so many new friends but excited about not working 15 hour days and having to watch Kardashian family marathons on E! channel as our only source of mindbalm.
The record is sounding ace, no lactose, a new mythology a new outlook and a new skin.
A new space for our heads! which is what it's all for right?! To clear the demons and build something beautiful out of nothing."

that's what yannis said on early november

well from these videos i can say that the 2nd album will be massive
can't wait

Track of The Day #85 Titus Andronicus - Titus Andronicus

the other day i was thinking that good indie bands are dead
i can't remember getting excited about indie-rock/indie-punk bands this year as i did other years
but
i recently discovered these guys
their debut "The Airing of Grievances" was released in April of 2008 by Troubleman Unlimited, and re-released by XL Recordings in January 2009
they are from New Jersey and they make indie punk interesting again
the production is simply brilliant and not flat like most uk indie albums
so much better than your average indie band
this is seriously getting in my top 5 records of the year
their selftitled track is the most catchy track of the album
trust me, you're gonna love it

i must admit that i can't love a band if their gigs aren't crazy
these guys know how to cause mayhem for sure
i'm thinking of visiting new york to see them live

Little Pictures!

Alright!Their name is Little Pictures, they 're from New Zealand and they 're probably friends with Bang Bang Eche(another "New Zealand" band which is "utterly thriling"!)
Little Pictures is a boy/girl duo that use their synths and some samplings to make easy/poppy indie music, in an "Architecture In Helsinki(except for the orchestral parts of course..)" kind of way.
Anyway, check them out and decide for your self!BrokenBeats think they 're really good...

This is really funny..

Review-> The Pigeon Detectives - Emergency[2008]

It definitely isn't a copy of their first album, entitled as "Wait For Me".But not anything that's gonna save today's music either. It's like picking the album's 4 best tracks, and there's no need to listen more of it.No way you can sit and listen to the whole album at once.I tried, but i couldn't wait for the time to tune in to another song. They're all very similar,if you take out "Nothing To Do With You",which is nothing more than a cheap ballad.Still, there are some good tracks that can hit this year's charts, just like they did last year. But it's not the point,is it?

Review-> Cazals - What Of Our Future[2008]

We've been rehearsing a lot,not so much time anyway. Many many albums, but what of it all is worth listening?Well,Cazals,it's probably about the worst album of the year.At least that's what i think.Actually it's not offering you more than any other mediorce indie rock album like the new Fratellis album. It's the same guitars, same lyrics, same everything,at the point that you conclude that someone they know[maybe the singer's mum]has given them away a Kitsune sign.If you really want to listen to other songs, then the one that you "can" give a listen to,without getting yourself killed,is Poor Innocent Boys."What Of Our Future",well, who said anything about your future? What a shame i was so delighted at first, couldn't wait to listen to Kitsune's new sign, here's the excuse, watch the video.

Review-> Albert Hammond Jr - Como Te Llama? [2008]

The Strokes are preparing their new album and Albert is releasing his second one.God knows what's next.Anyway, the result of Como Te Llama isn't as good as i expected.Compared to his first album,it's nothing. But still there are some good tracks in it,worth listening.Hope it's not the end of everything. And it won't be.
The album's beginning is rather interesting. In My Room, number 2 on the tracklist,is a great song. But the whole listening isn't anything special.Getting to Rocket, number 6,i'm starting to think it again. But once again, the next tracks don't surprise me.On the whole, there are 5 tracks in the album that can stand a chance, but cannot be compared to his first album though.
